Top Tips for Creating a Healthy Morning Routine

A productive morning starts with a healthy routine and a positive mindset – morning habits can make a HUGE difference to your day. Choose a routine that will promote happiness, sets you up to complete your key tasks first and maintains a work/life balance.

Here are my top tips for a healthy morning routine:

1. Get up the first time your alarm goes off

Don’t hit that snooze button! Waking up early to give yourself enough time to complete your morning routine is a must to start the day well.

2. Avoid looking at your phone for the first 20-30 minutes after waking up

Then give yourself a time limit on how long you can scroll before starting your day.

3. Drink a full glass of water whilst making your morning drink

It’s so important to hydrate throughout the day, so starting with water sets you up for the day. Then, while enjoying your coffee/tea/smoothie/favourite morning drink, write down 5 things you want in life, don’t judge them or laugh at them, just write what comes into your head. By writing it down you validate it, dreams start to shift what you believe is possible, it doesn’t matter if it’s the same every day or different. Give yourself permission to dream again.

4. Eat a healthy breakfast

Feed your body and your mind. Eating healthy can be easier than you think, starting your day right means a healthy breakfast that involves ingredients that make you feel good - a simple bowl of porridge, a smoothie or a cereal with fruit are easy options.

5. Physically write down everything you want to complete that morning

Leave it in a place where you can see it. Prioritise important tasks first, make sure they are at the top of the list, if in doubt it’s probably the one you’re dreading most! Eat that Frog! Manifest your day ahead by writing it down, because seeing it visually is a real winner.

6. Move your body for a minimum of 20 minutes

It releases the best intention for your day. Awakens the spirit and gets your endorphins flowing. Listen to a feel-good playlist to increase your vibrations and set the tone for a positive mood or your favourite podcast whilst moving your body.

Whatever you choose for your morning routine, make sure it works for you! Leave enough time to get to work/do the school run and ensure that you are set up for the day the best you can be. Any prep you can do the night before is always a winner!
